The Difference Between God and Us

When introducing Christianity to non-believers, a common point that is often brought up is the deity of Jesus Christ.    The obstacle in accepting the Truth for many is when we explain that God is both Father and Son.    I must admit, it is a hard concept to understand.    At least, if you think about this in humanistic terms.

What do I mean by "humanistic terms"?    I mean that if you want to understand God, you are going to have to step out of your small thinking and look at things on a larger scale.    God is not a superhuman, He is God.

The first step is to look in the beginning.

Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

Man is made in the image of God.    In the image of is a very important phrase.    This is to say that we are like God, but we are different.    It implies that we are similar in many aspects to God, but we are not gods in any way.    Many religions that teach god-hood have failed to clearly define what is God and what is human.    You show me where a human is to be made into a god, and I'll show you a false doctrine that puts gods and men on the same level.    If that's the case, why would I worship a god who is in reality another man?

What distinguishes the difference?

The answer is in Luke.

Luke 1:37 - For with God nothing shall be impossible.

What makes God, God, is the fact that there is nothing impossible for Him to do.    God is not restricted to human limitations.    God doesn't stop just because our progression does.    He doesn't stop being God because we can't understand.    His nature is God because He is God and not human.    Let's get it right: WE are like God, but God isn't like us.    He came first.

His Omnipresence

What makes Him God?    God can be in California and New Jersey at the same time.    Matter of fact, He can be in the United States and Japan at the very same moment.

What makes us human?    We must pick one place.    It is physically impossible for any human to be in two or more places at the very same moment.<
