The Birth of an Eternal Savior

It was nearly 2000 years ago when God demonstrated his love for each and every
one of us when he sent his beloved son Jesus into this world on a cold and dark night. The
only light that shown was from the bright midnight stars very very far away. The Bible
tells us that there were shepherds out watching over their flock of sheep that night, when
suddenly a bright light shown all around them. This light could only be described as
magnificent, because it displayed the glory of the almighty God. An angel appeared to
these lowly shepherds, who were considered by the world to be outcasts and worthy of
nothing but ridicule. “Don’t be afraid! I bring you good news of great joy that will be for
ALL PEOPLE,” spoke the angel to these shepherds. What was this good news that would
bring great joy to all people?
The world today is in desperate need of some good news. The world today is in
drastic need for some joy that lasts longer than a high that you may get from some drug,
or some temporary pleasure that you get from loveless, pointless sex outside of marriage.
Maybe you are searching for something like that. Something that you can turn to for hope
in this hopeless world. Maybe you’re looking for someone who will love you and care for
you like no one else can. Maybe your life has been nothing but tragedy after tragedy and
you’re looking for some good news of great joy. These shepherds were some of the first
people to hear of this good news of great joy. And even though this news is very old, it is
still very important today. It is essential for salvation and eternal life. It is essential for an
ultimate high that doesn’t come from a drug or drink, but comes from the Word of the
Living God that will never pass away. What was this good news? “Today, in the town of
David a Savior has been born; he is Christ the Lord.” This world today is in desperate
need of a Savior. And the good news of great joy is, that there is a Savior. His name is
Jesus and he was born 2000 years ago to save you and me from a hopeless eternity, if we
would only trust him.
You see, God loved us so much, that he gave his only son, that whoever would
believe in him would live and not die; that whoever would believe in him would succeed
and not fail; that whoever would believe in him would find hope and peace in a dark and
lonely world that is full of hate. But to find all of this we must first come to the reality of
knowing that we can’t live without God in our lives. You know that empty spot deep
down inside of you that you’ve tried to fill with drugs and alcohol and sex and all that
other trash that has just made you feel worse about yourself, that spot can only be filled by
Jesus who is the only hope for this world. He is the only true savior this world has ever
known and he wants to come into you today and fill that spot. That good news of great
joy can bring peace and happiness into your life. You might not feel that anyone cares
