SIN is Like An Iceberg

written by: Hart Dowd

SIN IS LIKE AN ICEBERG

A radio evangelist recently said, “When you are tempted to judge sin leniently, excusing it, and saying it does not really matter, remember that sin is like an iceberg......the greater part of it is out of sight. Only about one ninth of an iceberg is seen above the water.     The rest is out of sight, hidden from view.
"He that covereth his sin shall not proper.....God sees hidden sins. If you have a hidden sin in your life, confess it and forsake it now!

1). What is SIN?

Sin is all in word, thought, or deed that is contrary to the will of God.
“Everyone that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.”
     1 John 3:4

“To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
James 4:17

2). How did SIN enter the world?

Through Satan’s temptation man disbelieved and disobeyed God, and in so doing, sinned and brought himself and all mankind into misery.

“By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
Romans 5:12

3). What are the consequences of SIN?

Sin is the cause of all human misery in the world, and has brought spiritual, physical and eternal death upon man.
“Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil.”
Romans 2:9

“For the wages of sin is death.”
Romans 6:23

A man once came to a missionary in India. He heard the Missionary speak on the love of Christ, and about His death for the sins of the world. The man said, “Can this man you tell us of save us from all sin?”

“Yes” said the Missionary, “The blood of Jesus Christ God’s Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

“Can He save from the sin of murder?” the man asked.

The Missionary replied by quoting from the Bible. “Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow.”

“Can He save me from the sin of two murders?” asked the man.

And again the Missionary quoted, “Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow.”

The number of sins the man had committed was very great but even he found that the Grace and Love of God was sufficient for his need.    He deeply repented of all his sin and accepted Christ as his Saviour. He went on his way with the joy of salvation in his heart and the peace of God in his soul.

Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He did not come to call the righteous to repent, for there is none righteous no, not one!
