Nuggets of Truth and Wisdom written by: Hart Dowd Nuggets of Truth and Wisdom
One beautiful Sunday morning, a minister announced to his congregation:
"My good people, I have here in my hands three sermons ... a $100 sermon
that lasts five minutes, a $50 sermon that lasts fifteen minutes, and a
$10 sermon that lasts a full hour.
"Now, we'll take the collection and see which one I'll deliver."
(Anon)
Sometimes I think the best way to commune with God is to sit under a shady tree on a hot summer day, on the bank of a stream, with a fishing
pole in my hand. A baited hook, of course, is optional. The quiet and
peace of nature -- not to mention the soothing sound of the babbling
brook -- removes me from the distractions of the world and sets my mind
squarely on God. For me, there is no other feeling like it on earth.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
